Jeco and I went to Casino Filipino awhile ago and it was a lot of fun.
The game was no limit hold'em at 20-40.
Sadly, we didn't bring enough money and we could only buy in for 1,500.
That meant we only had under 40 bets to play with.
And since pots would run to 2000 per hand, my plan was pretty much to find a hand and move in hoping to double up.
I folded some hands I wish I could have played because the raises were huge pre-flop so I had to much QJ and QT.
At the BB, I checked the blind with K2 of spades. There were 7 people to the flop.
Flop was 568 with two spades. I checked. Someone bet out 200 and I called along with 4 others.
Turn was the Q of spades giving me the king high spade flush. I checked. Someone bet out 500 and everyone called. I had two choices. Raise all-in or call the bet.
But because I didn't have enough to call a river bet anyway, I moved all in with my last 700 hoping to scare away two pairs in case the board paired.
Unfortunately, I got called by the nut flush. And that was it for me.
It was a fun experience because I've never played on a casino before. I was glad to see that the other players weren't good. One lady on my table, in fact, called a hand to the river with the board showing AK773. The lady had QJ. They weren't all like that, but still.
What made it hard for me playing on a casino was that the atmosphere is a little different. It's weird cause I'm used to higher limits so the money didn't really scare me, but it was just that the feel of it is different. I'm used to home games and I'm comfortable reading a book and I know at least one other person on the table. At the casino, Jeco was at anotber table so it was kind of strange.
Anyway, I'm coming back on Tuesday with the max buy-in. 40 bets is not enough to play with so I didn't get a chance to make some plays. It doesn't look like a hard game to crush so I'm looking to do just that. If y'all want to join us, let me know.
Oh and in case you're wondering how much would be good to buy-in at a 20-40, I'd say 2000 at the very least. That's 50 bets and will allow you to play with a little more breathing room. But if you can, 4000 would be a good amount, especially if you plan on playing a lot of hands.
Alright, I'm off to play at a tourney.
